Course overview

Music Performance is suited to musicians and singers wishing to further their instrumental techniques within a solo and ensemble setting.

We cater for musicians with a classical or popular background.

Entry requirements

  • Average point score* of 4.5 or above, calculated from all GCSE subjects. Your point score MUST include at least five GCSEs at grade C/4 or above - including English Language or Maths.
    • If your English Language is a D/3, your Maths must be at least a C/4 and vice versa.
  • Competent level of practical performance on one instrument is essential. An audition will be held for you to demonstrate this.

What will I study?

You will learn Classical Music in Practice or Popular Music in Practice, Music Performance Techniques, Working and Developing as a Musical Ensemble, Improvising Music, Music in the Community, Music Performance Session Styles and develop a Music Project.

What could I do next?

This qualification could lead to session musician work, community workshop leadership, classroom and instrument teaching and Higher Education courses in music (although additional instrumental/ music theory qualifications may be needed).
