Course overview

A-Level Law provides an overview of criminal law, contract and tort principles, as well as the legal skills required for progression to a Law degree or to enter employment.

Throughout the course you will learn to develop the ability to memorise large amounts of information including definitions and legal terms, statute and case names, facts and principles.

You will also learn how to write evaluative essays about legal processes, personnel and principles learned. Application of the law through structured problem-solving forms a central aspect of the course.

What will I study?

You will learn about the Legal System & Criminal Law, Law-making & the Law of Tort and Further Law - the Law of Contract & Legal Concepts.

There will also be guest speakers, as well as trips to Parliament and the local/central courts.

 

Entry requirements

  • Five GCSEs at grade 4 or above including Maths
  • Grade 5 or above in GCSE English Language
  • Grade 6 or above in a Humanities subject

We recommend that you take Core Maths alongside this course.

What could I do next?

After completing this course you might choose to study Law at university. Previous students have gone on to a variety of degree programmes, including those at Russell Group universities.

Students with A-Level Law have also entered employment in a variety of settings, including office work, legal executives, banking and insurance. If you go on to complete further legal training you could enter the legal profession as a Solicitor, Barrister or Legal Executive, as well as many other related types of employment.
