Course overview

If you live and breathe gaming then this is the course for you. This career-focused qualification enables students to acquire underpinning knowledge, develop technical and transferable skills, and gain experience in a variety of different sections of the Esports industry.

In Year 1, you’ll be introduced to Esports cultures and learn about streaming techniques and layouts. You will learn about the business of competitive gaming and event marketing, and work towards organising your first Esports event.   

In Year 2 you’ll continue your studies of event management to develop and deliver a team-based Esports event. You will learn about the technical set-up that’s required to deliver these events, along with public relations skills to promote the event. You will also learn how to add hype and excitement through casting and hosting, skills that are in demand across the sector. 

The course has been designed to give you the complete know-how of everything revolving around Esports from the practical elements and the business side. The course is also linked with the British Esports Association.

How will I be taught and assessed? 

  • Coursework/assignment/presentations/live streams
  • Your course will provide you with opportunities to test your understanding of your subject informally before you complete the formal assessments that count towards your final mark. Each unit normally includes practice or ‘formative’ assessments, for which you receive feedback from your tutor. Practice assessments are developmental and any grades you receive for them do not count towards your unit mark. There is a formal or ‘summative’ assessment at the end of each module. This includes a range of coursework assessments, such as essays, reports, portfolios, performance, presentations, final year, independent project. The grades from formal assessments count towards your unit mark.

Entry requirements

  • Five GCSEs at grade 4 or above including GCSE English Language or Maths


  • Level 2 BTEC Diploma (or equivalent) in a related area at Merit level and GCSE English Language or Maths at grade 4 or above.

Additional Costs 

An external SSD/HDD or large storage USB. (Preferably SSD due to large/fast transfer rates).
