Course overview

Animal Management is an ideal course if you want to work in the animal industry as a Zoo Keeper, Veterinary Nurse, Animal Health and Welfare Officer or in Animal Conservation.

What will I study?

You will study units covering animal studies and a range of science based units including: Animal Biology, Animal Breeding and Genetics, Animal Welfare and Ethics and Animal Behaviour. Assessment takes the form of either exams or coursework.

You will also have the opportunity to focus on specific elements of animal science. As part of the course you will complete work experience in a relevant setting and take part in off-site visits. The opportunity to undertake an independent research project forms part of the course.

Entry requirements

  • Five GCSEs at grade 4 or above including English Language and Maths
  • Grade 4 or above in any GCSE Science (or equivalent)

or

  • A Level 2 BTEC Diploma or above and GCSE English Language and Maths at grade 4 or above
  • Grade 4 or above in any GCSE Science (or equivalent)
