Level 3 Foundation Diploma Business student Jesse Oshitola talks about the sessions that he attended during the Student CPD Day on 12 October.

“On CPD Day, I met Anne Frewin from LB Solutions in Chelmsford who is a Whole of Market Protection Advisor. She talked to us about her career journey into financial services and the skills she needs to do her job selling life insurance policies and providing clients with ethical and professional services. She also spoke to us about what she looks for when they recruit young people, which is something I found very interesting. The talk gave me practical insights into the vocation and inspired me to want to learn more and develop my employment skills. It also linked into my studies on personal finance, so will help to prepare me for the January external test.

I also got the chance to meet Charlotte Smith from Investment 20/20 who spoke to us about careers in investment banking and wealth management. This was extremely useful as investment banking is a career I want to pursue in the future. Investment 20/20 work closely with major banks in London including JP Morgan, Invesco, Killick and Co, Morgan Stanley, and Schroders. I got the chance to learn about different jobs and career pathways in investment banking and was inspired by the session.

Because of CPD Day, I now feel more inspired and knowledgeable to follow my dream career pathway and have gained more networks and links.”

CPD Days provide students with the opportunity to engage with professionals from their chosen industry and gain essential workplace skills. All students have the opportunity to attend three CPD Days each year.
