Principal's Question Time - 16 June

Students were thanked for their hard work from Principal & CEO Dan Pearson.

Tuesday 16 June was our last Principal's Question Time for this academic year. This was the last chance for current students to talk to Dan, Principal & CEO and ask questions face-to-face (virtually). Dan also took this opportunity to wish all students leaving this year lots of success in the future as well as thanking them for how they have handled the current situation.

Below you can find the questions and answers to what was asked!

Will students be fined for not returning equipment on loan?

The College will investigate how equipment can be returned safely with the possibility of drop-off points. Once this has been agreed students will be informed and are expected to return these items, although students will not be fined.

Does the College have anything in place for year 11s as they have not had the same experience of revising and taking exams?

Transition packs have been sent to all prospective students for them to engage with. Teachers will build into their schemes of work time to cover the necessary skills that students may have missed due to the virus. Examining boards and the government may produce further guidance on this. I would also like to thank all of our students who are leaving and how they have handled the current situation.

There have been lots of discussions recently about our physical health and keeping ourselves safe but how can we protect ourselves mentally?

Andy Shepherd, Head of Student Services answered this question.

There has been lots of information and the College social media sites which will continue. Going forward we are looking at different online platforms to enable students to access support. At this time it is expected that there will be more students who will need support and this will be catered for.

Does the college have an alumni group?

The College does have an alumni group - the best way to get involved is to join the Facebook or LinkedIn groups.

Will enrolment be the same process as last year?

We are looking at different options for enrolment to ensure that we follow all the correct government guidelines. We will communicate final plans as soon as possible to ensure all prospective students are aware of the process.
