Foundation Learning welcomes new students

The Foundation Learning Department at USP College recently welcomed potential new students to the College during a fantastic onsite transition week.

A mixture of Year 11 and Year 10 students from St Christopher’s School, Castledon School, Lancaster School, Cedar Hall School and Treetops were welcomed to our Pathways department.

Mandy Brown, Pathways Manager said, ‘We were delighted to be able to welcome our potential new students to the Pathways course at both campuses, and existing students who are moving on to the next steps in their learning journey. Students had the opportunity to take part in a variety of activities and spend time with our team of teachers and LSAs. This has been an extremely positive transition process and allowed students to explore their options and address any concerns they may have had about the move to College. Feedback from the schools has been extremely positive and we look forward to welcoming these students in the near future.”

Julie Clark, Supported Employment Manager, said: “The Pathways students had a great time completing transition activities and meeting their new teachers and support staff in the Supported Internship department. Student feedback was very positive and a good experience was had by all. Students were given the opportunity to try out some new work skill based and enrichment activities which they enjoyed. The team are ready to welcome the students back in September.”

The Supported Internship Team recently won a Sixth Form Colleges Association award in the category of 'Covid: above and beyond', for the team who worked hard to ensure that students received the best possible learning experience during lockdown and beyond.
