Student Accepted to Study at the University of Oxford

Essex A-Level English Literature, Sociology and History student, Andrea Neville, has been offered a place at one of the leading universities in the world, the University of Oxford.

Local A-Level English Literature, Sociology and History student, Andrea Neville, has been offered a place at one of the leading universities in the world, the University of Oxford.

Andrea, 17 from Grays, has been offered a place to study Ancient and Modern History in October 2021. She had never considered studying at Oxford until she joined USP College, Palmer’s Campus and was encouraged to apply by her teachers.

Andrea said: “I’m excited to be able to study at Oxford. I was surprised to get an offer but it has helped with my motivation to study for my A-Levels.”

The application process to study at the University of Oxford started in October through UCAS. Andrea then had to submit a piece of written work she completed as part of her A-Level course and then complete two virtual interviews before she received her offer in January.

USP College offers UCAS support to all students through Progress Coach sessions and the Careers Team and encourages them to apply to top Russell Group Universities. Students also take place in mock interviews supported by former students that have studied at the University Oxford or Cambridge.

Andrea said: “My subject teachers helped me to prepare my personal statement, as well as encouraging me to apply for the University of Oxford in the first place.

“I also worked with the Careers Team at the College from October to January to get my application complete and secure a place for me to do my online interviews. I don’t think I would have got through the application process without the support from the team.”

Seval Fadil, Vice Principal Academic said: “It is wonderful that Andrea has been accepted to study at the University of Oxford and is a compliment to her hard work throughout her studies.

“The College is proud of its high-quality A-Level provision, and having students like Andrea secure places at one of the world’s leading universities is a testament to the dedication of our teachers and staff in supporting the aspirations of our students.”

We currently offer over 32 A-Level subjects as well as Academic Applied subjects and is currently taking applications for September 2021.
