USP Storm sport academies have achieved brilliant results

USP Storm sport academies have achieved brilliant results – ending another successful year.

Celebrations have begun as USP Storm qualifies for the AoC Sport National Finals, and will see women’s football, netball, women’s basketball, men’s rugby, and a cross country team compete in late April 2020.

This is an exciting time for the college and means that a total of 56 students heading to the national finals, and will make them one of the biggest college squads attending from the whole of England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

The rugby team performed dominantly during their game, amassing a total of 265 points in 5 games, and are hoping to improve their silver medal to a gold.

Women’s football won the Eastern Region tournament, with top scorer Amy Jacobs, 17, achieving an incredible 8 goals.

The AoC Sport National Finals will take place at Nottingham University in April 2020, in its 42st year. They are the largest annual sporting event in the UK, including students from all over the country.

Craig Davidson, Head of Sport at USP, said: “As you can see, women’s sport is extremely successful at USP College, an achievement we are very proud of.”

Reflecting on the success, Craig added: “We have had another fantastic start to the year with our student-athletes excelling yet again at the highest level.

“To have so many students qualify for the AoC Sport National Finals in the first round is a testament to the strength of our provision.”
