To support the effective day-to-day operational delivery of the SEND curriculum across the Pathways department, ensuring high-quality provision for learners with a wide range of needs. The Deputy Manager will work closely with the Curriculum Director and Foundation Manager of Pathways to coordinate support, systems, and curriculum processes that promote inclusion, learner progress, and an outstanding student and parent experience.

The role does not hold overall strategic responsibility. Instead, it will focus on operational implementation, coordination, and staff/student support within the SEND curriculum.

Key Responsibilities:

Operational Oversight:

  • Support the planning and smooth delivery of the SEND curriculum across all relevant provision, including Entry Level, Pre-Entry
  • Coordinate daily staffing, including arranging cover and deploying LSAs and teachers to meet EHCP and high-needs requirements.
  • Act as the first point of contact for operational queries from staff, students, and families.

Student and Family Support:

  • Liaise regularly with students, parents/carers, and external professionals to resolve day-to-day concerns and ensure appropriate adjustments and support are in place.
  • Coordinate the implementation and review of individual student timetables, ISPs, and provision mapping in collaboration with the SEND and ALS teams

 

Curriculum Coordination:

  • Work alongside curriculum teams to ensure student needs are met within the classroom and wider study programme.
  • Ensure CPD, pastoral, and enrichment activities are implemented across the curriculum in line with Preparing for Adulthood and College priorities.
  • Monitor daily operations to ensure SEND learners are supported in achieving their progression outcomes and positive destinations.

Quality and Standards:

  • Support with internal quality assurance processes including data tracking, learning walks, and curriculum resource audits.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (e.g. attendance, behaviour logs, EHCP targets) and escalate concerns to the Foundation Manager or Strategic Lead as appropriate.

Team Development and Support:

  • Provide day-to-day supervision and mentoring to LSAs and SEND teaching staff..
  • Contribute to staff induction, ongoing CPD, and team development in collaboration with the Foundation Manager.

Communication and Reporting:

  • Maintain clear and consistent communication with internal stakeholders to ensure a joined-up approach to student support.
  • Provide regular updates to the Foundation Manager on operational matters and student progress.
  • Attend team and department meetings as required and contribute to cross-college SEND development activity.
