As a Lecturer, your primary responsibility will be to deliver outstanding teaching, learning and assessment in your subject area. You’ll play a key role in supporting our mission to provide career-focused learning that equips students with the skills and experience they need to succeed.

You’ll also contribute to curriculum development, engage with employers and community stakeholders, and support the pastoral and academic growth of your learners. Your influence will go beyond the classroom, through participation in open evenings, induction events, student progress monitoring, and enrichment activities.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality teaching and learning across levels 1 to 4.
  • Plan and assess lessons that meet the needs of diverse learners.
  • Support the pastoral development of students and contribute to their wellbeing.
  • Monitor and report on student progress in line with college policies.
  • Participate in curriculum design, development, and review.
  • Actively engage with the college’s commitment to safeguarding and student welfare.
  • Attend and contribute to open evenings, interviews, induction sessions, and parents' consultations.
  • Be an advocate for innovation in digital teaching tools and blended learning.
  • Provide out-of-hours care for livestock (if applicable), supporting the broader operational requirements of the curriculum area.

Job Requirements

Essential:

  • A relevant degree or professional qualification.
  • In-depth knowledge and expertise in your subject area.
  • Proven experience teaching or training learners at levels 1 to 4.
  • A proactive and student-centred teaching philosophy.
  • Familiarity with digital learning platforms (e.g., Microsoft Teams, Google Classroom).
  • Willingness to work cross-campus and occasionally during evenings or weekends.
  • Strong pastoral care skills and the ability to inspire and motivate learners.

Desirable: 

  • PGCE or other teaching qualification.
  • Industry or business experience in the subject field.
  • Experience with curriculum development and enrichment programmes.
  • Knowledge of emerging digital tools (e.g., AI-assisted teaching platforms).
  • Experience with flipped, immersive, or blended learning strategies.
