Job Details

The Security Lead is responsible for overseeing and leading the College's security and behaviour management provision across both Seevic and Palmer's Campuses. This includes the line management of the security team and Positive Behaviour Officers. Ensuring consistent, high-quality approach to site security, behaviour intervention and incident response. The role includes strategic oversight, appraisals, staff development, safeguarding and ensuring safe, inclusive learning environments.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Leadership & Management: Oversee all Positive Behaviour Officers and Security Guards across campuses, ensuring effective operational management and staff performance development.

  • Strategic Oversight: Lead the design and execution of the college’s security and behaviour strategies, including risk assessments, audits, and compliance with regulations (e.g., safeguarding, health & safety, PREVENT).

  • Safeguarding Role: Act as a Tier 2 Safeguarding Officer, managing referrals, contributing to case reviews, and leading on security-related safeguarding matters.

  • Training & Development: Design and deliver mandatory training for the team, covering areas such as first aid, de-escalation, GDPR, and radio protocols.

  • Reporting & Briefings: Provide monthly updates to the Assistant Principal on security incidents, risks, behaviour trends, and team performance.

  • Incident & Behaviour Monitoring: Track behaviour patterns and incidents, use data to inform interventions, and ensure proper documentation and reporting (e.g., CCTV, logs).

  • Emergency & Event Support: Coordinate staff deployment and response during emergencies, fire evacuations, exams, events, and high-risk periods.

  • Budget & Resource Management: Assist in managing the security budget, staffing, and procurement of equipment.

  • Campus Safety Operations: Conduct patrols, monitor access control, enforce ID checks, and respond to unauthorised individuals.

  • Collaboration & College Culture: Work closely with cross-college teams, engage positively with students, and promote an inclusive, respectful learning environment.

Job Requirements:

Essential:

  • Security related qualification.
  • Experience of managing teams in a security or behavioural role.
  • Experience of working with young people in an education or youth setting.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and analytical skills.
  • Proficient in use of digital systems (e.g. CCTV, Incident reporting software)

Desirable:

  • Experience in further education or similar setting.
  • Safeguarding Training
  • First Aid Training
