Are you passionate about engineering, hands-on learning, and supporting student success? We are seeking a motivated and skilled Engineering Technician to join our dynamic curriculum team. This unique hybrid role combines technical expertise with a commitment to delivering engaging, career-focused learning experiences in our Further Education programmes.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Managing, maintaining, and preparing equipment and workshop environments.
  • Supporting and facilitating practical lessons and student-led projects.
  • Assisting in the delivery of an individualised and innovative learning programme.
  • Promoting safety, inclusion, and high standards in all learning environments.
  • Collaborating closely with academic staff, employers, and student support teams to create a positive and future-ready learning journey.

Job Requirements

Technical Support:

  • Set up, maintain, and securely store tools, equipment, and materials.
  • Provide first-line maintenance and safety checks.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organised workshop environment.
  • Maintain inventories, manage stock levels, and support ordering processes.
  • Assist in the demonstration of equipment and processes during open events and external showcases.

Learning Facilitation:

  • Instruct and supervise students during lessons, workshops, and practical sessions.
  • Deliver elements of study programmes under the guidance of academic staff.
  • Support students with their progress and skill development through one-to-one and group sessions.
  • Promote project-based learning and career-focused experiences aligned with employer needs.
  • Help prepare teaching resources and support both in-person and online delivery.
  • Track student engagement, contribute to assessment processes, and support learner progress.

Wider Contribution:

  • Support enrichment activities, college visits, and industry events.
  • Promote equality, diversity, and inclusion in all aspects of teaching and learning.
  • Uphold safeguarding and wellbeing standards, following the college’s PREVENT and safeguarding policies.
