USP College Hosts FEDEC Changemaker Event for Essex Student Governors
- Posted 09 Oct 2025

USP College welcomed newly elected student governors and union representatives from across Essex to its XTEND Digital Campus on Thursday 9th October 2025 for the first session of the FEDEC Changemaker Programme.
The programme, delivered by Unloc in partnership with the Federation of Essex Colleges, is designed to equip student leaders with the skills to plan and implement impactful social action campaigns within their colleges and local communities. Through interactive workshops, participants explored leadership, communication, and project planning techniques to prepare for their roles as changemakers.
We have been blown away by the level of engagement by our ambassadors; they have shown why FE is in safe hands. The session has been full of fun and thought provoking activities. We are proud to be part of changemakers' programme.
This event marks the first of three sessions, with future workshops scheduled at Colchester Institute and Harlow College. Together, these sessions aim to empower young leaders to make a real difference in their communities.
Today was really fun as well as informative and engaging. It has helped me build my confidence in becoming a student representative.
The day also provided an opportunity for students to network with peers from other colleges, share ideas, and collaborate on projects that address real social issues. By fostering teamwork and innovation, the programme ensures that student voices are not only heard but actively shape positive change across Essex.
