USP College Support Staff voted finalist in NCFE Award

We are excited to announce that Charlie Watts, Early Years Facilitator at USP College in Essex, has been named as a finalist for 'Support Staff of the Year' in the annual NCFE Aspiration Awards. Charlie, a former Level 3 Early Years & Education Studies student at the College, joined the Early Years team this year in a facilitator capacity. Since joining the team, Charlie has made a huge impact on both the staff and students in the department.

Charlie has been selected as a finalist from nominations across the UK. The Aspiration Awards honour the success of learners, apprentices, educators, support staff and educational organisations.

When talking about how Charlie felt finding out he was a finalist he said "it’s truly an honour to know that my efforts and commitment have been recognised. That said, I wouldn’t be in this position without the encouragement and guidance of my amazing and inspiring colleagues."

Kara Stoker, Curriculum Manager for Early Years, who submitted the nomination said "I am so proud that Charlie has been selected as a finalist. It is well-deserved recognition for someone who gives so much, without ever seeking the spotlight. His dedication, flexibility, and kindness shine through in everything he does, and he embodies the values we want to see in our staff and college community. Charlie is one of our "home-grown" success stories, having stepped seamlessly into his facilitator role straight after achieving his Level 3 Early Years qualification at the college.

From day one, Charlie has shown incredible dedication, passion, and a deep understanding of Early Years education, making him an invaluable member of the Health, Early Years, and Social Care team.

Charlie was delighted with the nomination, saying "as a former student of USP College, it means a great deal to now be recognised as a member of staff. I never imagined starting my career in a teaching-based role so early, but this unexpected path helped me discover a genuine passion for supporting and educating others. It was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that I knew I had to embrace."

Congratulations Charlie, and best of luck for the Aspiration Awards ceremony!
