This course covers what is money – needs, wants, and aspirations depending on age. Savings and borrowing products for different individuals, financial providers and regulators. How to calculate national insurance and income tax and who are the sources of information to help with finances from the current date up to the next two years.
What will I study?
Year 1:
- Medium and long-term financial products: personal loans, hire purchase, mortgages.
- Consequences of unaffordable debt and its impact on future financial products and credit ratings.
Year 2:
- Creating sustainable finances: savings, borrowing, investment products.
- Budgeting for short, medium, and long term.
- Managing savings for aspirations.
- Sustainability and ethical behaviour of financial providers.
- EU and UK legislation.
- Ethical investments, corporate social responsibility, marketing, and advertising.

How it will be assessed:
- Quizzes and questionnaires

Entry requirements
- Five GCSEs (minimum) Grade C/4 or above
- English Language and Maths at grade 5
- Alps score of at least 4.5 or above
