Develop the knowledge and technical skills needed to protect digital systems and build secure cloud-based networks. Through Cyber Security and Networking in the Cloud, you will explore the threats facing modern organisations, learn how to safeguard digital infrastructure, and develop an understanding of cloud networking technologies. Designed for adult learners and those looking to upskill, this Higher Technical Qualification (HTQ) module combines academic study with practical application, helping you build knowledge that is directly relevant to today's digital workplace and future career progression.

What will I study?

This module combines two Pearson Higher National units that provide a strong foundation in cyber security and cloud networking.

Unit 3: Cyber Security

Cyber security is one of the fastest-growing areas within the digital sector, with organisations increasingly reliant on secure systems to protect their data, services and reputation. In this unit, you will explore the nature of cybercrime, common cyber threats and vulnerabilities, and the techniques used to identify, assess and mitigate security risks. You will examine information assurance, risk management and incident response strategies, developing an understanding of how organisations protect their digital assets.

The unit also explores current security challenges, legislation and best practice, enabling you to evaluate cyber security measures and recommend appropriate solutions.

Unit 6: Networking in the Cloud

Cloud technologies have transformed the way organisations manage and deliver digital services. This unit introduces the principles of cloud networking and the infrastructure that supports modern cloud-based systems. You will explore cloud technologies, network architectures and deployment models, while gaining an understanding of how organisations design, configure and optimise cloud networks. You will analyse network requirements, evaluate performance and resilience, and consider how cloud solutions can be implemented to meet organisational needs securely and efficiently.

By the end of the module, you will understand the relationship between cyber security and cloud networking and how both contribute to the successful management of modern digital infrastructure.
