The T-Level in Cybersecurity is designed for students who want to build strong digital, technical, and security skills that are in high demand. This two‑year course gives you the knowledge and hands‑on experience needed to move into the fast‑growing world of cybersecurity.

You’ll learn the essential digital skills employers are looking for, and the course combines classroom learning with a real industry placement, giving you the confidence and experience to step into higher education, an apprenticeship, or employment. Cybersecurity is one of the UK’s biggest growth areas, and this course gives you a clear route into specialist digital careers.

What will I study?

All students start with the core Computer Science component, building a strong foundation in digital and computing skills. You’ll learn:

  • Practical programming
  • How to design and fix algorithms
  • How computer systems, hardware and networks work
  • How data is stored and represented
  • How to work with databases
  • Real industry-style software‑development practices

These skills prepare you for more advanced digital and computing topics.

You’ll then move into the Cyber Security pathway, where you’ll explore how digital threats work and how systems are protected. You’ll study:

  • Network security
  • Encryption and cryptography
  • Digital forensics
  • Secure coding
  • Ethical hacking

You’ll also develop practical, hands-on skills using tools and techniques used by real cybersecurity professionals.

Includes:

  • Core Component: 2 exam papers, Employer Set Project
  • Occupational Specialism

How will the student be taught and assessed?

Learners will be assessed through a mixture of exams, practical work and specialist project tasks.

This includes:

  • Written exams covering core digital concepts like security, legislation, and digital infrastructure
  • An Employer‑Set Project where you’ll solve real industry problems
  • An Occupational Specialism assessment testing your skills in areas such as risk assessment, incident response and securing digital systems

This blended assessment approach helps you build real confidence in both theory and practical cybersecurity skills.

Entry requirements

Five GCSEs at grade 4 or above including English Language & Maths, or a relevant Level 2 Diploma. Additionally, students will need to seek a suitable industry placement of 1 day a week

You can also progress to university with your T-Level UCAS points, choosing subjects like computing, cybersecurity or digital forensics.
