Design, Surveying and Planning for Construction

The T Level Surveying is a technical qualification designed for students interested in careers within surveying, construction, engineering and the built environment. Combining classroom learning with a substantial industry placement, the course develops the knowledge, technical skills and professional behaviours required by the modern construction industry. 

Students will specialise in Surveying and Design for Construction and the Built Environment, developing skills in surveying techniques, project planning, technical drawing, digital technologies and construction design. This qualification provides an ideal route into employment, apprenticeships or higher education while offering valuable industry experience throughout the programme. 

Modules

Core Content 

• Students will develop knowledge and understanding of:
• Health and Safety
• Construction Science and Building Technology
• Sustainability in Construction
• Measurement and Data Management
• Project Management 
• Relationship Management and Communication 
• Business and Commercial Principles 
• Digital Technology and Information Management within Construction 

Occupational Specialism; Surveying and Design for Construction and the Built Environment 

Students will learn to: 

• Carry out site and building surveys 
• Collect, analyse and present surveying data 
• Produce technical drawings and digital models 
• Use industry-standard software and digital technologies 
• Support the design and planning of construction projects 
• Interpret plans, specifications and technical information 
• Apply surveying principles within real construction scenarios  

Entry requirements

At least five GCSEs at Grade 4 or above, including English Language, Double Science & Mathematics. 

An interest in surveying, construction, engineering, architecture or the built environment is desirable. Good mathematical and problem-solving skills will support success on the programme.

• Safety footwear and PPE for some practical activities and industry placements 
• Engineering Polo Shirts & work trousers
