Do you want to create exciting worlds full of amazing stories and characters? If so, this course is for you. Animation and illustration are two constantly developing and exciting areas of the creative industries, with animators and illustrators employed to create characters, animations, and visuals for television, social media, advertising, games, concept design, and many other areas.

What will I study?

The Concept Art & Animation course includes stimulating and exciting modules, covering all types of animation from 2D, 3D, stop motion and production techniques. Character design and environment design along with elements to work within other industries.

We will provide you with the skills, knowledge, and experience required to become successful in an exciting creative industry environment that is currently undergoing significant changes. You will engage with our experienced lecturers, who come from a wide range of commercial and professional disciplines, to increase your technical ability, expand your understanding of the animation pipeline, and prepare you for a career in animated film, comic books, concept art, motion graphics, and game design.

You will gain a broad skill set which will effectively prepare you for successful progression to the career of your choice.

Modules

The course is assignment based and continuously assessed; you will construct a comprehensive portfolio for each assignment.

Final Major Project - this is externally assessed and will form the basis of your final exhibition.

Entry requirements

Five GCSEs at grade 4 or above including English Language or Maths

Level 2 BTEC Diploma or above in a relevant creative subject and GCSE English Language or Maths at grade 4 or above
