From A-Levels at Palmer's Campus to a Film Career

Natalie Scarsbrook is an Essex-based award winning film maker who began her career journey here, at USP College. As a Palmer's Campus student, Natalie studied A-Levels Film Studies, Psychology, Communication Studies and Theatre Studies.

"Within about 3 weeks of college, I knew I wanted a career in film. Throughout my 2 years there, I was supported with my studies as well as extra film making projects I undertook to practice using the equipment. I always felt that my teachers were 100% behind my goals and I credit it as the starting block to my success."

Her time at Palmer's Campus was fulfilling academically and personally, where she had invaluable mentoring, learned skills that fed into her Bachelors Degree in Film, and met an amazing community of likeminded peers. Natalie also met her now-husband and company partner, Ben, during their studies at the College.

Within two years of graduating from University of Wales, Natalie and Ben started their film company. Recently, Natalie has been directing her feature documentary debut about redefining the 'Essex-Girl Narrative', which will be entered into film festivals.

Natalie's successful role in the industry reflects our values at USP College - we are working to ensure students have the options and facilities to drive their career-focused skills, which Natalie took full advantage of. The nature of A-Levels also allows learners to explore a range of options for the future. 

For aspiring film makers at USP College, Natalie suggests reaching out to teachers for live projects with local companies, using the college's facilities, experiment with film outside of college without the pressure of grades and collaborate with students in performing arts.
