Staff at USP College utilise Staff Development Day to enhance digital skills and share knowledge

USP College hosts three staff development days throughout each academic year, each tailored specifically to the area of work and the latest technological advancements. The day dedicated to staff members saw a day of collaboration, skill development and interesting workshops.

The College is committed to staying at the forefront of technological enhancements and as part of the development day staff were able to see how they can seamlessly integrate technologies such as VR into teaching methodologies. Throughout the day nominated staff undertook their Silver i-Transform badge. A programme that was specially developed by USP College to support education staff to deliver lessons in immersive classrooms and extended realities.

Another highlight of the day was a workshop introducing AI and delving into the potential to revolutionise education. Delivered by USP College's in-house experts, James Parker, Assistant Principal Quality, Performance & Innovation and Rob Bailey, Digital Learning Technologist Manager, staff uncovered the mysteries of AI and how it can affect our future lessons.

The CPD Day was a positive day filled with a variation of topics. It was good to mix with other members of staff too!

As well as providing a strong focus on digital, the College also run numerous other activities. Staff benefitted from updating their safeguarding awareness of current topical subjects, networking and showcasing each department's key functions, as well as rounding up the day with reflection on progress and future planning.

The College also has a team of Teacher Improvement Practitioners (TIP) who run a host of sessions throughout the day. Our TIPs provide ongoing support to our whole teaching team throughout the academic year and our CPD Day was a great chance for them all to come together to share best practices.
