Course Overview
Have you ever wondered why you get out of breath after strenuous activity? How such a complex organism as yourself is put together? How do all the different flora and fauna interact with each other and their environment?
During the course, you will gain a theoretical and practical understanding of Biological processes going on in the world around you, have the chance to carry out investigations and answer intriguing questions.

How will I be taught and assessed?
There are two externally set and assessed examination papers that cover the whole of the content, and there are 10 required practicals that help you build scientific working skills.
You will carry out varied formative assessments throughout the course leading up to your final external examinations.
Why study at USP College?
This course is a blended face-to-face and online course, enabling you to complete practical investigations. It also lends a greater degree of flexibility with study times with some of the theoretical content.
Entry Requirements
Level 2 Functional Skills or GCSE grade C/4 or above in English and Maths. If you do not have either of these, you may study the course while also studying GCSE Maths and English.
What could I do next?
Once you have completed GCSE Biology, it could enable you to move into your chosen progression pathways of Primary Education or Midwifery or further studies in scientific subjects.
You can also go on to study one of the many Access to Higher Education courses at the college in preparation for university.
