Course Overview

The T Level in Accounting is aimed at preparing you for the basic knowledge and skills as an assistant accountant, for a career in accounting and finance. Assistant Accountants are involved in a wide range of accounting tasks, from report preparation to ledger maintenance, bank statements reconciliation and cash flow forecasting.

In the classroom, you will be working independently, or in groups to solve accounting problems. You will be researching and designing an innovative solution to a business issue, and then presenting your findings to the group. You’ll also have a chance to practice your new skills in the workplace

Entry Requirements

  • Five GCSEs at grade 4 or above including Maths. This May also include an appropriate Level 2 Qualification 
  • Grade 5 or above in GCSE English Language

How will I be taught and assessed?

  • Controlled Assessments
  • Practical Skills Tests

In year 1, students are assessed through an Employer Set Project which ensures students can combine core knowledge and skills as well as an externally marked exam.

Combined this will be graded A*-U.

Year 2 students will specialise and develop the knowledge and skills necessary to achieve competence status.

Students will be assessed by a synoptic assessment which will be graded Pass, Merit or Distinction.

What can I do after completing this course?

You can continue your studies into a Level 4 Accounting Course which is offered at USP College, taking the degree route into accountancy. You can also apply to study at Level 4 apprenticeship in accounting to gain full industry-recognised qualification like AAT level 4, which can lead you to become a Chartered Accountant.

Alternatively, you could go straight to employment as assistant accountant

 

Workplace

Students will be expected to carry out a extensive work experience placement. This should equate to a minimum of 316 hours.
