Course overview

Animal Management with Science is an ideal course if you want to work in the animal industry as a Zoo Keeper, Veterinary Nurse, Animal Health and Welfare Officer or even a Feed Scientist.

Entry requirements

  • At least five GCSEs at grade C/4 or above including English Language or Maths. If your English Language is a D/3, your Maths must be at least a C/4 and vice versa

or

  • A Level 2 BTEC Diploma or above and GCSE English Language or Maths at grade C/4 or above
  • Grade C/4 or above in any GCSE Science (or equivalent)
  • Grade C/4 or above in GCSE Maths
  • Grade C/4 or above in GCSE English Language

What will I study?

You will study units covering animal studies and a range of science based units including: Animal Biology, Animal Breeding and Genetics, Animal Welfare and Ethics and Animal Behaviour.

You will also have the opportunity to focus on specific elements of animal science. As part of the course you will complete work experience in a relevant setting and take part in off-site visits. The opportunity to undertake an independent research project forms part of the course.
