From Boardroom to Classroom...
An insight into what the Day in the Life of a USP College student is like.
On 16 and 25 January, Craig Davidson, Assistant Principal Student Experience stepped into the shoes of two students, Ana and Amber, at our Palmer's and Seevic Campus. Throughout the day, Craig participated in the student's lessons studying Maths, Early Years Practitioner Level 2 Diploma and Business Level 2. The purpose of hosting the 'Student for a Day' initiative is designed for our Senior Management Team to gain a more valuable understanding of the learning experience for our students.
I think it is important for staff to stay informed about what is happening in lessons around campus. This helps them ensure that students are receiving a quality education and support. It also allows staff to find any areas that may need improvement and supply additional resources if needed. Being aware of what goes on in lessons helps create a positive learning environment for everyone.
I have had the privilege to step into two of our students’ shoes at both our Seevic and Palmer’s Campuses. From attending classes to embracing the social spaces and engaging in enrichment workshops the opportunity really brought me closer to life as a student. The days I spent with the students were fantastic, and as Assistant Principal of Student Experience, I valued the opportunity to embrace the experience which our students receive every day.
It makes students feel more valued seeing a member of Senior Management experiencing life as a student at USP College, it was a great experience! I ran a workshop on the day as a part of my role as the Wellbeing student Champion for the Seevic Campus - the workshop focuses around techniques to support with anxiety. It was important to me that more staff members are able to see the workshop in action.
