Strong A Levels results from USP Students

Students celebrate positive A-Level results at USP College with pass rate over 95%

Hundreds of students from USP College are celebrating passing their A-Levels today, with 95,3% of A-Level students passing. This shows a clear and steady increase of 5,2% from 2019, the last year which exams were run, where the college achieved a 90,1% A Levels pass rate.

The 2022 USP College A Levels cohort also boasts an 86,6% achievement rate, which is 4% above the national average for General FE Colleges (82,6%).

In addition, the percentage of students achieving at least an A* or B grade has increased by 10,7% from 2019, indicating a general positive upward trend in student performance for the College.

15 A Level courses achieved a 100% pass rate across the USP College campuses in Benfleet and Grays. These included Art & Design, Biology, Classical Civilisation, Drama & Theatre, English Language & Literature, Further Mathematics and Media Studies.

USP College Principal Dan Pearson said: “I’m delighted to see such high percentages of successes across our career paths, with many students getting the grades they need for their exciting next steps and future plans.”

“These results come on the back of the significant progress we’ve made over the past couple of years, culminating in a positive outcome of Good from the Ofsted inspection last year. A big well done to the students who’ve achieved these great results, it’s been a privilege working with them on their learning journey at USP College.”

Essex-based USP College, which stands for Unified Seevic Palmer’s, launched its Career-Focused Learning Strategy in 2020 to ensure students leave College with the knowledge and skills they need to stand out for high-end careers in a wide range of career paths.

While studying at USP College, students have the opportunity to participate in professional development days, where sessions are led by industry experts in their chosen career sector. They can also learn career-specific skills that aren’t covered in the course curriculum, and gain broader employability and study skills to help them become a more attractive university or job applicant. Students also visit local employers to gain real work experience as part of these professional development days.

They are also able to join career-sector specific College Companies, which simulate day-to-day life in the work environment and allow students to work on live briefs for local and national businesses.

Pearson said, “We’ve put a variety of key elements in place, such as the latest technologies, world-class facilities, quality teaching & curriculum and a career focused approach, to ensure one goal – student success and wellbeing. This is what we will continue striving towards. In an increasingly uncertain world, we will continue to be unwavering in our delivery of high-quality education to power the futures of individuals, communities and the economy.”

A total of 291 students successfully completed their A-Levels at the College, with the majority achieving the required grade to move on to their intended next steps.
