Student art auction raises over £2,000!

Creative students at USP College hosted an art auction to sell artwork.

Students at USP College hosted an art auction to sell artwork. The funds from the evening are split 50/50, the first 50% goes back to the students for them to complete an end of year show in July and the remaining 50% goes to Little Havens Hospice. Throughout the evening there were also donation buckets for visitors meaning the College are donating around £1000 to Little Havens Hospice.

Throughout the well-attended evening at Twenty-one on Southend Seafront; guests and visitors included students from the Level 4 Art & Design Foundation Diploma, parents/carers, College staff, Metal, members of the College’s sector boards and the UAL Chief Examiner.

Students from the Level 4 Creative Enterprise Diploma promoted the event, and Lois Fackerell opened the proceedings with a beautiful acoustic set.

Throughout the evening special guests from the College’s sector boards joined. Attendees included award-winning film-maker, Charles Sharman-Cox and renowned photographer, Tess Hallman.

The sector board members help to shape the College’s career-focused approach by providing valuable insights into what employers are looking for in the industry, they also support students through events like the art auction, as well as attending college-run Student CPD Days – giving students direct insight into the industry they are looking to enter.

The College offers Art & Design courses from Level 1 up to Level 5 suitable for 16+ and 18+ learners. The College’s Level 4 Foundation Diploma is a year-long course that provides students the opportunity to work on their own portfolio for one year before deciding their next steps, whether that be a spot at a top Arts University College or into employment.
