Celebrating Student Success at USP College Seevic Campus 2022 Awards Ceremony

USP College, Seevic Campus recognised the achievements of over 30 students at the Student Awards Ceremony on Wednesday 6 July.

The College held the awards evening on Campus for the first time since 2019 and it was great to have everyone back together. There was a great atmosphere throughout the evening where students celebrated their achievements with friends and family. The College’s Level 3 Performing Arts students were also on hand to lift spirits and provide entertainment throughout the evening with a range of performances from Tayla Mason, Salome Law, Brooke Pinnock, Saff Smith-Rawlings, George Holmes and Jessica Humphreys

Students were nominated for awards by their teachers and peers for demonstrating the Colleges Values & Behaviours: Resilience, Accountability and Respect. There were also a number of very special awards such as The Young Professional Award, recognising entrepreneurial spirit, Learner Voice Award, for valuable contribution to the Student Union and Students’ Student of the Year Award, for the hard work and determination that students put into their studies from their peers point of view.

Principal & CEO, Dan Pearson and Gordon Haines MBE JP ACII, Chair of Corporation presented the students with their awards.

The College also welcomed Mayor of Castle Point Councillor Martin Tucker and Mayoress Dawn Tucker.

Harvey Hayward was presented with the top award of the evening, the Student of the Year 2022 Award.

An honoured Harvey collected his award along with a £100 Amazon Gift Voucher. He said that USP College ‘has provided me with a massive amount of resources, materials and support during my time at College.’

The 18-year-old from Corringham was chosen for the Student of the Year Award by the senior management team out of all the award winners of the night. Harvey was chosen because of his resilience; he has had a tough couple of years but did not let this stop him from working hard and becoming an inspiration to fellow students and teachers alike.

Harvey who studied A-Level Sociology, English Literature and Law said ‘I feel honoured to have been nominated for this award. My favourite part of being a student at the College is having the support from my friendly teachers.’ Harvey also said ‘USP College is different to a school environment, it feels less formal but remains professional.’

Harvey now starts working to take his next steps in order to become a Lawyer, his dream career.
